Ruins

This is all that left of an old monastery near camp. Apparently the Russian army destroyed it in the 1920’s. There is not much left now, just bits of the foundations and some miscellaneous junk. Several dug pits suggest that whatever was there was looted long ago. It is kind of a sad place….

I love the photos.

The sad things that are done to the history of these places are hard to take.

There must be so many interesting things to see all over Mongolia. Take some photos in UB on your way back too. It would be neat to see the difference between the city and the areas you have been working in.

I really hope I have more than a few hours in UB. I'd like to see a bit of the city. It might be a case of drive-in and hop on the plane however.

Hey Stefan. I have no idea what a blog is and it took me almost a half hour to figure out that I can send a note to you by commenting on your photos...I am such a computer dolt.
Anyway, I loved your blog (why does that sound dirty?) and wanted to say Hey.
Seeing anything which once was wonderful in ruins is always a sad experience, I find. Seeing it looted puts me in mind of someone stealing memories. I went a little "Celtic" on an American tourist I caught trying to chip off a piece from a Roman pillar.
It is great having this sight to keep in touch Stef. Take good care of yourself. I will send good Karma. Debbie-Lynn

Hey Debbie-Lynn. Good to hear from you! I'll post some pictures of the local horses for you.
