Gana

This is Gana, the young Mongolian geologist I work with most days. He is a great guy and very keen to learn both geology and english. His full name is Gansaikhan, which means "Beautifull ferrous metal". Some things just don't translate...

Just out of curiosity, what's the Mongolian for 'Iron Pyrites'? I know it isn't a metal....but it could be mistaken for one!

What's the outcrop exposure like in the desert?

Hey Jon, Pretty good, maybe 80% if you count the sub-crop. Everything has a desert varnish on it, however. You need to crack evey rock open before you look at it. Nice place to work generally. No mosquitos or bushwacking.

Cheers,
